The Elevator
Inspection Field Operation Website (EIFOW)
is designed to be fully interactive, which allows
field personnel to maintain elevator inspection information
such as adding, changing and deleting their inspection
findings, generating reports, and much more. A web
site offers an alternative to conventional methods
by reducing or eliminating the paperwork. The data
entry is done by the inspectors from their homes or
field offices. This eliminates transcription errors
and paper handling. The clerical staff previously
doing data entry can now be redirected to quality
control and improving customer service.
A secondary benefit of a web site
is that it provides the inspectors with direct access
to the office database. The website comes with complete
security checking and validation. The website is connected
to the live production database thus giving the field
staff access to the most current data. The site is designed
from the “field operations” viewpoint. The
field staff is given functions that allow for entry,
revision, and reporting of all activities associated
with field inspections and investigations.
The EIFOW
is a PC based program compatible with Microsoft Windows
98 through Windows XP operating systems and uses MS
Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater.
